Sound and Soil was a site-specific, collaborative, and experimental performance that took place outdoors in the arid and semi-desert landscape of Namabeep, South Africa.

 

The local collaborators to the performance included Nama dancers from the Nama Cultural Dance Group from Steinkopf, which is headed by Ms. Dina Christiaan.

Whilst most of the indigenous and traditional African healers who have contributed to the project were not physically present, their voices (contributions) were woven into the experimental dance in collaboration with the Nama dancers.
